Security
Protect accounts and Board access
Practical account and permission controls help protect responder accounts, private Maps, Boards, and incident information.
Keep authentication details private
Do not share passwords, authentication cookies, password-reset links, or email-verification links. Private Map files and incident information should be available only to people who require access to the applicable Board.
Protect your account
- Use a unique password and maintain access to the registered email address.
- Verify the sender, Board, and requested role before accepting an invitation.
- Remove Board access that is no longer required.
- Review Security and Activity when account behavior is unexpected.
- Change the account password and review Board roles if access may have been exposed.
Application safeguards
The application scopes Maps and Board operations through authenticated ownership and permission checks, validates uploaded content and realtime messages, limits retained operational details, and uses bounded support references instead of displaying internal errors. These safeguards do not eliminate the need for careful account and permission management.
